I adore miss Katy Smail. She really makes me laugh and she really makes me think about my pictures, she's really low key and really special at the same time. I don't see her often but when i do it's lovely - and so each time i bug her for her picture, cos yeah, she's really cute - and of course she's always totally sweet about it.

Nothing... that's right - the new issue of Love is a total winner - from cover to cover - hot girls, great styling, perfect blasts from the past. It's a bunch of cool women, with stuff to say and yeah - each with a lovely rack - who knew an entire issue dedicated to boobs - and the power they bring - could be so much fun. You've gotta buy it, i'm telling you, the only decision then is - which cover? C'mon it's easy - Lauren H all the way :)

That's how i'm feeling uploading this picture of myself which my sister and i can only describe as, well... um... sorta fierce, - which is, well... um... not really my style :) But Harper's Bazaar Japan were so kind to ask me to be in their recent NY issue, and the stylist was so right on to pull Reed Krakoff for me to wear - and the makeup artist did something amazing to my cheekbones - or wait - was that maybe a little photoshop? Anyway too many good things and nice people made this moment - i wanted to share it with you and thank them. Tomorrow - back to sweet girls on the street and collages, i promise x

Yesterday i spent the day at the beach shooting a lookbook with the lovely Larissa. It was fun, it got really hot - it was time to cool off - Larissa's bra top makes me wanna head to CK and buy a bunch of new underwear - crisp and white - just like the ones in those old Kate ads.

I wanna get into sportswear, the real thing, wear it with my regular clothes. Like sneakers - i'm not talking white vans or converse - i mean hi tech - really made for action, totally functional - and best of all - yeah that's right - comfortable ;) I wanna look cool drinking coffee in my Dunks - aren't they the ultimate? or maybe a pair of New Balance, all grey? I wanna wear a Speedo one piece to the beach as a top - or even under my winter get up - ok that's not happening but yeah - who would'a thought - thanks miss Alt, it does look cool indeed. Ok get me to the sports store.

Yesterday for the first time all summer - it cooled - just a little, there was a breeze that wasn't warm, i got few goosebumps in the shade, i had lunch with a friend who ordered a hot chocolate (hehe) - it was just that feeling of change, i like it, a new season on it's way. But before it arrives - when you still wear shorts in the day but by evening need to cover up - i love the idea of an oversized jacket and bare legs. Like this - pretty cool, no?

I like the idea of spending a week or a month or an entire holiday only wearing white shirts - day and night - i mean only wearing white shirts up top, i would wear bottoms too :) alas i only have one good one - and it's always in the wash. Hmmm, anyway - i'm totally loving Katherine in her cut off Uniqlo version. So much so that i sat up last night to collage with a few more blanc beauties. I know nothing new, but really good right?

My make-up routine is as fuss free (read boring) as my early morning dressing routine, it's the same over and over and over again. Sunscreen (good girl), tinted moisturizer and two generous daps of concealer under my eyes, one thing i can be sure of: dark circles. Somewhat effective i thought. But then i met this beauty and realised i should probably make more of an effort, cos when i got close i noticed her perfect eyes were helped by the slightest touch of eye-liner and her skin glowed just a little extra with a brush of blusher. I'm not gonna get all heavy handed with my brushes, but this is a helpful reminder, these things were invented for a reason - and i could probably use their help :)

Back To School Shopping

I don't know if it's all the magazines i'm reading or the window displays i can't stop staring at - or the trip Tommy and i took uptown to try on winter coats ;) or if it's just that i haven't cracked my summer wardrobe so it's easier to stop trying - whatever - i can't stop thinking about cool weather dressing right now. So here it is, my winter wish list.

I'm keen on hats, coats big enough for a man - loafers, i'm gonna show you a pair tomorrow :) Sunglasses that slant up at the sides - a la those Tom Ford beauties up there - and most of all, what i want to wear with jeans all winter long: nubbly, bobby, cropped, thick, cable knit, round neck sweaters. I'll pull them on over stripes, shirts, over white tees. Perfect. Oh and one more thing - turtle necks - i'm loving them for the first time ever. See that denim shirt up there, all open and tucked into low pants - i want to put a tight turtle neck under that and wear it to dinner. So cosy up people Autumn's (slowly) on it's way. Ok and on a side note - i want a pair of Olatz Schnabel PJ's for winter nights and just to kick around in on weekends when leaving the house is no fun. There that's it - and now - back into my denim shorts and tee for another 90 degree day.

Monochrome

So we're kinda obsessed with monochrome dressing at the moment, Greta and i that is. There is something so chic, so effortless, actually, just so damn easy about it, no? She's living in her Uniqlo khaki jumper and green Levis cut into a mini and well me, i'm still working on my monochrome ensemble but of course it's shaping up to be all blue. Anyway as i put this collage together i realised we've both been influenced (just a little :) by Céline and her all red, dammit not again, just when you think you've had somewhat of an original idea - oh yeah and of course Self Service circa 2007 was already all over it. Ok so there, monochrome, it's nothing new, but whatever, we're loving it right now.

I remember so clearly the day i first laid eyes on the Sofia for Vuitton bag collection. I was living in LA and i made a special trip in my station wagon to the store in Beverly Hills. I saw this suede beauty and my mind was made up - it was my PERFECT bag, the shape, the size, the way you could carry it neatly with two handles or totally carefree slung over one shoulder. I held it for a long time that day - i made the mistake of asking the price - i knew it was a pipe dream but hearing those numbers confirmed it. I put it firmly back on the counter. I'd like to say that was it, that i forgot all about it - but no. I visited it and visited it again - just to make sure there was still one available, just to keep my dream alive ;) I i talked about it and talked about it some more, i had a picture pinned to my wall, i said things like 'if i had that bag i'd never need another' - and, well, my husband, i guess he listened. Cos i came home two Fridays ago and there, nearly as big as my living room, was a LV shopping bag sitting on our chair - um, aaaaaaamazing. So here it is, my new bag at the beach, it's already been to NZ and back - i LOVE it and man, Derek, i LOVE you.
